Elevating women in aviation: 25by2025
The 25by2025 initiative, spearheaded by IATA, is a global campaign to enhance female representation in the aviation sector. Its objective is clear yet ambitious: to boost the number of women in senior positions and under-represented areas of the aviation industry by 25%, or up to a minimum of 25%, by 2025.
Jane Hoskisson, Director of Talent, Learning, Engagement and Diversity at IATA, explains: “By committing to 25by2025, all the signatories play a critical role in making aviation truly diverse and inclusive. I’m pleased to see Ink Innovation embark on this journey along with 200 signatories, and I congratulate them on making diversity, equity and inclusion a key component of their business strategy.”
Reflecting on the progress so far, the initiative has seen encouraging results. From 2021 to 2022, signatories of the initiative counted over 1,000 new female pilots, an increase of 25%. Additionally, 28% of women in senior roles grew, compared to 24% in 2021. While many organisations have already reached their 25by2025 targets, the journey towards full gender parity continues.
